How to make a good FIRST IMPRESSION :)

Explore what was your First Impression on Someone Special...  ;-) :-p

http://www.actioncoach.com/siteFiles/photos/articles/How_To_Make_a_Great_First_Impression.jpg

Have you ever met someone and walked away with "freak" or "loser" in mind???
Are you afraid of being that someone and having others not like or understand you???

Happily, you can eliminate these worries and fears by learning some effective techniques on how to make a great and lasting first impression.

http://www.orthofill.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/First-Impression-Never-Dies.png

1.) Be confident and outgoing. When a person realizes someone has those qualities, they find them easier to talk with and much more welcoming. Maybe if you are in junior high, shaking hands may not be the thing to do, but for anyone else, shake hands. If you are culturally aware that some groups do not touch the opposite sex, you may opt out of shaking hands, but in America, most people shake hands.
  • Don't be afraid to say hello to new people.

  • Smile and wave.

2.) Proper posture is imperative. Body language can tell someone a lot about your mood and confidence level. Slouching is a no-no as it gives the impression of insecurity and defeat. You must always stand straight and tall, possibly with a hand on your hip, if you want to convey to someone that you are a strong, confident, deserving individual.
                                           http://cardiffcareerswhatson.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/first-impressions.jpg
3.)Never fidget. Keep your hands to your side or in your lap. Never bite your fingernails, twirl your hair or crumple a napkin in your hand. Remember to never over do it though or you may look boastful and spoilt.

4.) Relax. Posture is very important, but you don't want to look like a robot, either. Sit up straight, but don't be so rigid that you'd fall over if pushed. It's like when people say that an animal can smell your fear; people can tell if you're nervous. Just be yourself. Don't try to impress someone, let your real personality do the work.

5.) Smile. Especially when first meeting someone. It's not necessary to show your teeth, just a meaningful grin will do. Be careful not to transition from a smile to a straight face too quickly, or people will sense you're being fake or that you don't like them. Make sure you let the other person speak too, there is nothing more people hate then someone who talks non-stop.

6.) Make eye contact. Stay focused on the person you are speaking with and certainly not on anything else to avoid them feeling unappreciated and unwanted. Often if the person has an eye problem, like an eye that turns in, you're put off by this. Instead, focus on the person's nose or mouth.

7.) Dress appropriately. Always be genuine and show your unique personality. Whether this includes latest fashion is up to you. You want to make a first impression about yourself, so be yourself. Just think about your cleavage or skirt length (if you're a woman), or cleanliness of the clothes. Be conscious of your accessories and what they will say about you.

8.) Have a sense of humor. People who try to be funny are NOT funny. Truly funny people are just themselves and the wittiness shows. Don't use lame jokes or lines.

9.) Be interesting. Use some common sense when speaking. Most ladies aren't going to be interested in someone who stands there talking about his last fight in the bar or how many beers he can drink. Similarly, most guys aren't going to want to listen to stories about cute things your puppy did or how much you like shoes. You're trying to attract the other person. Intrigue them. Keep them interested. Some good things to talk about:
  • Interesting facts or advice.
  • Music or movies.
  • Questions
  • However never be rude about the persons beliefs, religion or ethnicity.

                   http://www.waingergroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/man-in-frame.jpg

10.) Concentrate on getting the person to talk about himself or herself. "So, what do you like to do in your downtime?" A nice comment about appearance is also appropriate -- that's a lovely color for you -- is okay between females. If there is nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all! People can tell your lying easily and it will obviously hurt a lot.

11.) Find your connection. At a party, you can ask how the other person knows the host and explore that topic a bit.

12.) If you're on a job interview, know something about the company! In fact, know as much as you possible can about it. Cover your tattoos. Bosses aren't big into them and neither are customers in most businesses. This doesn't mean that you should act like a know it all.

13.) If your teeth are in disrepair, find a way to get them back into shape. Bad teeth are a turn off. You might want to even get a second job to finance dental repairs -- bad teeth really are a turn off.
  • Get braces if your teeth are wonky and remember to brush your teeth at least twice a day to makes sure you have good breath.

14.) Go easy on the perfume or cologne. This is self-explanatory. Remember the famous saying "a little bit goes a long way" rather than "too much is never enough". You may love the scent you are wearing; however, it could easily offend others or cause a reaction to their allergies, if applicable. In this regard, it is probably better to wear none at all or, if you must, then spray it into a distance and wait a few seconds before walking through the sprayed area.

15.) Use good hygiene. This is super important, especially for teens. This may seem overly basic, but always shower daily and wear clean, fresh clothes. Also equally important, you should brush your teeth twice daily and be sure to wear deodorant and/or antiperspirant, if needed, especially if you're meeting someone important who is likely to make you nervous.
  • If your a girl, wear a little concealer if needed. No other makeup because it's usually a turn off. If it is a special occasion, add some lipstick/lipgloss, mascara and maybe some eyeliner or eyeshadow.
16.) Close on a good note. Keep them wanting more. Show that you had a really good time and would like to see them again. Maybe even text them saying so when you get home. People on a first date not only want to have a good time, but they want to know that you did as well. They want that reassurance. Don't be over clingy though!

17.) Be yourself. Don't pretend to be someone you're not, or you are stuck with that label forever. Be yourself. That may be what everyone says but it is entirely true! Never lie to anybody about yourself and always be honest. If somebody finds out you have been lying to him or her, they will be very hurt and it will be hard for them to forgive you easily.

18.) Remember the name of the people you meet. When introduced, used the person's name: "It's so nice to meet, you Bob." If the name is unusual, you might even ask them to spell their name, "As a way to help me remember you."

19.) Have a conversation about something appropriate in the situation. At your new job, ask your colleague how long he has worked there. At the bus stop talk about the weather. Remember what people have told you, maybe ask more questions about some subject. (e.g.: "You have worked here for a year? What did you do before?" or "Where did you live before?")

20.) Never brag. This includes namedropping.

                     http://philpresents.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/first-impresions-last-slide-041-001.jpg?w=450

21.) Talk about your interests and hobbies. Ask the other person about what their hobbies are - it's always a great conversation starter! Ask if they like a specific band or singer. The more you have in common, the easier it will be to carry on the conversation.

22.) Stay positive. When you put down a third party, the other person realizes they are next. Never, ever discuss past relationships on a first date. It's too personal a topic. If someone asks, say "I'd much rather learn about you and what interests you."

Dressing Sense: Upgrade your style :)

Dressing Sense: Upgrade your Style :)

http://www.shopmytech.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/mens-fashion-show.jpg

Fashion is the perfect way to show your unique traits to the world. People with good style pay attention the color, cut and fabric of their clothes, choosing items that look modern and in vogue. The options are endless! Experiment to find out what clothes flatter your figure and express your unique personality. After all, great style is style that is truly your own!

1.) This is really important, because you can be very stylish, but feel bad because you hate the clothes that you're wearing. Figure out (or at least get an idea) of the type of clothing that you like, so that you can be stylish and know that the clothes you're wearing help express your personality well.

2.) Learn about style. Look through fashion magazines and see what clothes are in style now. Watch celebrity news to see what celebrities are wearing right now. Look at regular people around you and examine what they're wearing. Go window-shopping. This will give you an idea of what's in style right now, and will give you a chance to see what items you like and dislike.

http://www.pakistanfashionmag.com/latest/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Dressing-sense-for-men.jpg
3.) Ditch the brand-name clothes. The most important rule of having style is not to be defined by labels. You won't have your own individual style if you are defined by them. You don't need to wear Gucci or American Eagle to be a stylish person. You can get jealous looks from Citi Trends or even a Payless.

4.) Know when clothes fit you. Not all of us can have the size 0 body of a model, and that's okay. You don't need that to have style. To have style, you need to know how to tell when clothes fit you, and what kind of clothes and styles you can use to flatter your body type

http://www.wardrobeoxygen.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/dress-code-women-what-to-wear-in-the-office.jpg
5.) Know how to put outfits together. You can have a lot of nice single pieces of clothing, but style look like you're lacking style if you don't know how to put them together. Know what colours work well together, and how to avoid a boring outfit. Know when to rock the heels and when to go for some sneakers.

6.) Accessorize! It's a thing that can make an okay outfit a great outfit, and really improve your sense of style. Know how much jewelry is too much, if you should wear the hat or not, and if you should go for a bold or simple accessory.
http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/21/db/07/21db07609af1edadaff28c667e58462f.jpg
7.) Get crazy and creative! Take risks with style and create your own clothes. Need a new skirt? Don't go and buy one; make one! If you really want to be adventurous, you could rip the sleeves of a long sleeved top or cut some shorts to make it into a skirt that you could wear.
  • Personalize your clothes and anything you have. MAKE a bag. It would be best to use a sewing machine to make the stitches neater and to ensure that you are doing everything correctly. You could personalize your things by writing your name on your things using fabric paints, gems, and decorations like that.
  • If you want to buy some jeans, maybe try to customize them. You can splatter paint on them, ask your friends to sign them, dye them, or add some gems. They would be cute and unique! And of course if you struggle to make clothes then ask adult help or some one in your family! Just be confident with your style and love it!!

 Upgrade your Dressing Style...

How to judge someone's body Language?

Body language is something that translates to all aspects of life. Your mother probably told you to stand up straight when you were younger, but she wasn’t telling you that just to be annoying. Your posture affects how people perceive you. An individual with good posture sends signals of confidence and positive energy, whereas someone who is slumped over may appear unsure of themselves and negative.
The information below takes a look at some interesting facts about body language. Did you know that it only takes about 7 seconds to make a judgement about someone when meeting them? That’s pretty quick – often times, first impressions happen before you can even open your mouth. It is important to take note of your body language and amend it if necessary. That’s not to say you should be walking around perfectly upright like a board all day – take a look at what the graphic has to say about different body language that is appropriate for different situations. While it focuses on specific ‘business’ scenarios, nearly all of them are applicable to both life in general, and to teachers in the classroom.

All About Body Language

Humans can produce:
  • Over 7,000 signs
  • Over 5,000 distinct hand gestures
  • Over 250,000 facial expressions
  • Over 1,000 different postures
  • 82% of our information from the world around us comes to us visually
  • 11% is oral.
  • 7% is from our other senses
  • 80% of what people remember is from a combination of visual and oral
  • Only about 10% of oral only information is retained
  • Only about 20% of visual only information is retained
There are six universal visual signs:
  • Happiness
  • Sadness
  • Surprise
  • Disgust
  • Anger
  • Fear

What Is Good Body Language For A Particular Scenario?

Meeting Someone New
Mirror their behavior, be close but not too close, be open to your new friend, don’t back away when they are speaking

Making A Presentation
Move towards your audience when talking about important points, focus on your audience, don’t look at the computer screen

Encourage Someone To Speak Up
Move towards them, align yourself physically, nod in support of what they say, smile and be positive when they speak

Take Charge Of A Group
Keep your head held high and shoulders back, don’t slump, lean forward when you talk, lean back when you want others to talk

Socialize Professionally
Pay attention, make eye contact, smile and nod frequently, no flirting, no personal grooming, don’t interrupt, find areas of common interest

Disagree Without Making Enemies
Raise your eyebrows slightly to show you’re receptive, smile and nod frequently, touch the persona appropriately in a non-threatening way

Nail An Interview
Lean in when you are speaking, mirror them physically, stay open with your body language so that you don’t seem defensive

Deal With An Angry Colleague
Spread your arms out about a foot from your body, keep your palms facing down, reflect emotions

Ask For Something You Want
Mirror their behavior, then initiate new body language, sit or stand very still, except to nod, stay facing the person you’re asking for something, and focus on them

How do HUMANS take in the matter?

 EYES - 82%
 EARS - 11%
 OTHER SENSES - 7%

What information we remember?

ORAL - 10%
VISUAL - 20%
ORAL + Visual - 80%

* It takes 7 seconds to make a judgement about a person when first meeting them.

Effectiveness of Body Language...

BODY LANGUAGE - 55%
TONE OF VOICE - 38%
WORDS - 7%
